 Just started this piece end of this last weekend….
inspired by David Bates and my friendsPeter VanFleet and Jupiter Moon…cutting and moving
dancing and shifting..but not just around…left and right…but UP AND DOWN!

2LEFT PICTURES-Try your painting in the frame backwards….you may find a fairly boring wood frame to be a great lipless shadowbox type frame!

(I will sand, clean up, maybe stain then glue my piece into the frame backwards) ….I like it that way….and sometimes if the frames really cheap or weird with writing on the back i like to have that all visible as an edgy touch.




BELOW-I had started this piece with the intent to cut up into strips and rearrange…
but…well these lines now are part of the piece and not to guide the sharp metal teeth.

BELOW-the stages of my Gray and Gold edged piece i started at Ruby's Neighborhood Restaurant LIVE painting on First Friday, March in Ashland.

 BELOW-an example of rolling with the punches,
staying loose and letting the muse lead…
            I used the foam core pieces as shapes to paint around and as they dried my
awareness of them sticking started me down the path of their possible permanence…

as i sat with the ABOVE "finished piece"
i fell in love with the way it looks WITH the foam core still attached.

BELOW-Peter VanFleet inspired piece i've been evolving.

Thanks to Doyle Cornwell for the use of his saw for a few of these pieces.

BELOW3- A few more pieces of my cutting and re-pieceing

from the last 2 weeks, using foam core and matt board.

 BELOW- a piece of cut ups, but with Wood slices or my art

BELOW-last 2 are a few pieces i started since the week before last…
I'm at that stage where their not done, but i still need to sit with them

Bright yellow one i had intended to cut into various width strips and frame randomly…
I guess i need to cut them before i paint them…cause i fall in love easily..in other words..no cut dis one

Art Ongoings from the last few weeks.

Above- Angels get their wings, Muses get their clouds fluffed and lost puppies find their ways home when a painting finds it's frame…

You will be seeing the whole thing all framed up nice in the next few blogs…

There was magic here and where i found it was here.

My neighbor gave me these frames seeing as she is moving,

i always do this sort of divining rod thing when i get a frame (If i can't already tell right off the bat i have a piece for it's fit)…where i start to look around the room then follow my intuition through the other rooms and up the stairs sizing up the hundreds of paintings lining each (and every) wall…And when the piece is found!…its Magic!

Tip #1- Distress an old frame:)

sand paper, fork, nail even the back of a hammer..

then..clean it up and stain it..or paint it then clean it up…sand a little..

layer it up!

make that old faded gold look…I'm thinking i will have to do a blog on some cool framing ideas:)

if you can tell she hot glued a little figuring and a photo of a collage onto of the original art mail i'd sent her! gotta love the playful directions the Art MAil takes!

though i try to make smaller run batcher like 4…
kids keep the 4 in a4dable

The left one i had set in the back of a painting for 3 months till i recently took down the show..and voila! there she was! and yes that is the varsity being lifted into the clouds by angels:)

Below-"pimping out" the shadowbox style frame of a piece i have been working on over the last 3-4 years and it just came out of the other side of being something i didn't like, and couldn't see what to do with..and now that it has been fermenting I saw it with fresh eyes, made just a very few marks  (Lips and a closed eye) now it's becoming one of my favorites!

Lesson #1-Let it ferment a bit…sit with it..live with it..turn it around and hang it on the wall or lean it against the washer in the bathroom, even let it get recirculated into the other positions…like behind the door, or against the spice rack, behind a steps tool.  Look at it…and don't.

 Below- The 18x24" Demo piece i di at my most recent Rogue Valley Gallery Studio Spirits Class in Medford on the 11th of this month.

to work a bit before passing back to me for a few last marks.

My AWESOME new friends/Art Patrons Tony and Petra had me and the muse over for a SPECTACULAR home made meal, and they were courteous enough to share their balcony and inspiring view of Ashland and comfortable space for me to paint for 5+hours Thanks again:)
